ZINGG Jules-Emile

Jules-Emile ZINGG was a French painter and engraver, born in Montbéliard (Doubs) and died in Paris in 1942.

A pupil of Fernand Cormon at the Beaux-Arts studio in Paris, he became second prizewinner of the Prix de Rome in 1911 and won a national prize.

He exhibited in Paris with Eugène Druet and met the Nabis painters Maurice Denis and Paul Sérusier, who were to have a lasting influence on his painting.

Throughout his life, he painted portraits, landscapes and country scenes, expressing their poetry in a highly personal style that is much sought-after by collectors.
