Camille BRYEN, whose real name was Camille Briand, was a French poet, painter and engraver, born in 1907 in Nantes and who died in 1977 in Paris.
Attached to the second School of Parishe belongs to the" Lyric Abstraction" movement and is considered one of the fathers of the Tachism.
Initially linked with the Surrealists, he published works combining poems and drawings in 1927 and 1932. He co-signed Charles Sirato's "dimensional manifesto" alongside Jean Arp, Marcel Duchamp and Francis Picabia.
In 1948, he organized the first "Abstraction Lyrique" exhibition, which also featured Gérard Schneider, Hans Hartung, Wols and Georges Mathieu.
From 1950 onwards, he exhibited regularly in France and abroad, taking part in numerous shows and exhibitions.
In his work, color is structured in discreet fields criss-crossed by fine stripes, creating a poetic atmosphere that gives it its originality.
