James GUITET was a French painter and engraver born in 1925 in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) and died in 2010 in Seynes (Gard).
Professor of painting at the Sorbonne in 1970, he also created decorations for a table service and porcelain vases, which gave him a taste for volumes and materials. Through engraving, he also became interested in book-objects.
He is part of the "Second School of Paris"referring to post-war abstract painters.
His works exude an interiority, a spirituality and a sensuality that go beyond the simple dimension of abstraction or of the" Conceptual Art" to which he can also be related. They can be found in numerous public and private collections.
